"Blessed be the Name of the Eternal!"(Weisel 74).
This very statement tells me the strenght of many Jews. By that, I mean it tells me that many Jews stayed faithful even through the hard times. They kept their heads up and if I were in their shoes I would do the very same thing.

"Make an effort, Zalman.... Try...."(Weisel 92).
After analyzing this quote, I finally understood it. This quote tells how supportive the Jews were to one another. It's basically one Jew telling another to keep holding on because they're almost to the finIish line. I think that the encouragement that's given to each other is something that can make the oldest of stars shine.

"Yitgadal veyitkadach shme raba....May His Name be blessed and magnified...." whispered my father.(Wiesel 42)
This quote is expressing the emotions that are felt for the Jews. By silently praying, you can tell that some Jews still had faith. Faith is what keeps many of the Jews from falling apart and giving up all hope. If I was in the father's place, I would be doing the same thing. I would still be faithful and strong even though it was a harsh time period.

"Strip! Fast! Los! Keep only your belts and shoes in your hands...."(Wiesel 43)
Just by reading this statement, you can already sense how cruel and harsh the Germans were towards the Jews. They treated the Jews like animals, practically not humans just because of their religion. Its sad to think that this all actually happened to people just like us.

Night Quote Analysis

"I've got a premoition of evil," said my mother.  "This afternoon I noticed some new faces in the ghetto-two German officers, from the Gestapo, I believe.  Since we've been here, not a single officer has has ever shown himself...."(Weisel 22)

For this quote, I believe that the emotions and feelings during this period were very sceptical. Obviously by the attitude and word phrasing the mother has said, there seems to be evil lurking nearer. When Eli and his mother are talking, she explains that she senses evil. You are able to identify that this sense of unease in the air is that there hasn't been a visit from the German officers. The leading of their visit worries the family. I think the family will soon get to live the evil that is lurking near.

""There are eighty of you in the wagon," added a German officer. "If anyone is missing, you'll all be shot, like dogs..."(Wiesel 33)

My anaylsis is that the author is trying to express the authority given from the German officers over the Jewish people. This shows that if one tried to escape, then everyone in that cart or wagon would be held accountable. The officers would tell every Jew this to make sure that the would not try to escape. The fear driven Jews, from my perspective, were terrified; if you were willing to put others lifes at risk because of your stupidity then you would try to escape, otherwise you'ld be smart and stay put.
